Garment Care

Each garment comes with a care label and we advise that you follow it accordingly. Care labels differ depending on the fabric and the style.

Children’s clothes, especially hand-smocked garments, are delicate and require the proper care to keep them in their best condition. Washing by hand is the best and safest way to clean them. Wash with cold water and use a mild detergent that will not only prevent the fading of your garment’s colour, but also skin irritation.

Although not recommended, some may still opt to use a washing machine. If you must, proceed with caution and know the risk of possible damage (snagging, shrinking, fading which could be more prevented if hand-washed). Make sure to turn the garment inside-out before putting it in the machine and wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Stuffing the garment in a mesh laundry bag might also help protect the garment during the wash.

Note that some garments such as Silk Dupioni are best dry-cleaned so as to avoid shrinkage and the softening of its original texture.

Hang to dry is also the preferred way of drying delicate children’s clothes, especially garments with lace, as they could shrink from the heat of the machine. Again, if you are willing to risk with machine-drying, make sure to choose the no-heat setting and remove the garment while still damp and let it hang to completely dry.
